Why does 3.4 DPMO correspond to 6σ?
Six Sigma convention assumes the process mean drifts 1.5σ over the long term: a long-term Z of 4.5 corresponds to 3.4 DPMO, and adding the 1.5σ shift gives a short-term 6σ.
